Services

The Harlem Public Library offers a variety of services free to the public.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

This is a free program for babies through Kindergarten age children and their parents and caregivers.  Track books read, and earn prizes along your way to 1000 books.

Adult Programs

We have had programs that have demonstrated how to paint with basic watercolor; basics of social media; calligraphy; grant writing; and basic music fundamentals.  We are always looking for new ideas for programming that would interest our patrons.

After School Squad

This program is a STEAM-based after school program for children in elementary school.  It takes place Wednesdays at 4:00 pm.

Audiobooks

Books on CDs may be checked out for 28 days.

Blocks

The blocks are located in our children's area.  They were awarded to our library through a grant from the Montana State Library, who received grant money from the Dennis and Phyillis Washington Foundation, all to support the early literacy Ready2Read initiative.

Books may be checked out for 28 days.

Book Club

The Book Club is a reading club for adults.  It takes place Mondays at 4:00.

Children Programs

Our children's programs range from Storytime, 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, to After School Squad, to Summer Reading, and everything in between!

Color Copier

Colored copies are $1.00 per page, black & white copies are $.20 per page.

Computers

We have 4 patron desktop computers, 3 laptop computers, and 2 tablets that are open for anyone 8 years or older to use in our library.  You do not need a library card to use the computers.  There is a 30 minute time limit, with another 30 minutes if needed, for a total of an hour a day.

DVDs

You may check out 2 DVDs at a time.  DVDs may only be checked out for 7 days.

Fax

Faxes sent and/or received are $1.00 per page.  Our fax number is: (406) 353-2224.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library group is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization which supports and promotes the library.  The role of the Friends group is to support library causes and services.

Internet

The Internet is free and available on all the patron computers, as well as wirelessly.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a service available that allows our library users to borrow materials form other libraries.  Patrons wishing to use this service must provide a $3.00 deposit.  This deposit will be given back if the item(s) are picked up and returned on time.

Laminator

Patrons may use our laminator for items 8.5 inches x 11 inches or smaller for $1.00 per page/item.

LEGO Club  

LEGO Club is a program for children and parents of any age, held on Thursdays from 4:00-5:00.  If a child is under the age of five, they must be accompanied by an adult.

Magazines

We have a wide variety of magazines that can be read in the library or checked out.  Magazines may be checked out for 7 days.  Here is a list of magazines we subscribe to: Magazines

Meeting Room

The meeting room is available at no cost for meetings of area civic, cultural, or educational organizations.  Contact the library if you are interested in using the meeting room.

Mobile Devices

Patrons in good standing for one month or longer may check out an iPad, an HP Pro Surface Tablet, and/or a mobile hotspot for 14 days.

MontanaLibrary2Go

Read and listen to ebooks & audiobooks for free using your library card.

Newspapers

Newspapers may only be read in the library.  Newspapers we subscribe to include The Great Falls Tribune, The Havre Daily News, and The Blaine County Journal.

Notary Services

A notary public is available at the library at no cost to you.  Please make sure you have all the proper paperwork, including an acceptable form of identification.

Playspace

Playspace is the area in the children's section that includes toys and blocks.  This area is open to the public during our operating hours.  Parents are encouraged to play with their children!

Scanner

Scanning to a computer is free.  If you need to print results of your scans, those will be $.20 per page.

Storytime

Storytime is for children ages 0-5, at 10:00 am on Tuesdays.  We read stories, do activities, crafts, and play!

Summer Reading Programs

Each year, the library encourages members of our community to read throughout the summer by offering engaging programs and incentives for reading.  

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is free and may be used anywhere in our library.
